Minnesota Hospice Marks 10 Years of Caring for Families With a Community Celebration in Lakeville

The community-based, locally owned hospice invites neighbors, families and healthcare partners to a 10th anniversary open house in Lakeville on September 17.

Ten years ago, we set out to build the best place to work and provide the best care. Reaching this milestone with the people who started it, and the families who trusted us, means so much to me.”
— Ken Haglind, Founding CEO, Minnesota Hospice

LAKEVILLE, MN, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Minnesota Hospice is celebrating its 10th anniversary, a milestone that belongs to the people who have spent years caring for patients and families, and the communities they call home.

On Thursday, September 17, Minnesota Hospice will host a 10th anniversary open house at its Lakeville office from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Families, healthcare partners, and neighbors who have been part of Minnesota Hospice’s first decade are welcome to come by and celebrate the milestone.

The team also has two more reasons to celebrate. Minnesota Hospice was named a Star Tribune Top Workplace for the second consecutive year, ranking among the top 10 small business employers in Minnesota. It was also the only hospice-exclusive organization on the list.
The Top Work
place recognition is based on confidential employee feedback, making it especially meaningful for a hospice that takes care of its employees so they can take great care of patients and their families.

Minnesota Hospice also received Gold for Hospice Care in the 2026 Star Tribune Minnesota’s Best Awards and has been voted Best Hospice by local communities for six consecutive years.

The organization also has a 5-star Medicare rating, one of only nine hospices in Minnesota to earn that rating and the only 5-star hospice in its service area.

The people who have helped shape the organization and its culture over the past decade are a big part of what Minnesota Hospice is today. For the anniversary, the organization has been sharing personal stories from longtime team members through its 10 Years of Care series.

Lidia, Hospice Aide Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator, has been with Minnesota Hospice for eight years. “I’m proud of where I’m at and that I still have the passion and love of hospice.”

Kate, a Social Worker, helps families through the parts no one feels ready for. She says families often notice the strength of the whole care team. One compliment she hears often is simple: “You guys hire well.”

“I have incredibly competent and compassionate co-workers,” Kate says. “The perfect balance.”

Ashley, a Registered Nurse who has been with Minnesota Hospice for years, described what the work has come to mean to her: “Hospice is my life’s work. It is going to be my legacy when I’m long gone.”

For Kelly, a Certified Nursing Assistant, the hospice care she provides may seem small until you are the person receiving them: helping someone feel safe, comfortable and cared for. “Helping people with their dignity of looking good, being clean, feeling clean,” Kelly says.

Those staff stories are part of what Ken Haglind, founding CEO reflects on as Minnesota Hospice reaches 10 years.

“Ten years ago, we set out to build the best place to work and provide the best care,” Haglind said. “Reaching this milestone with so many of the people who started it, and the families who trusted us along the way, is the part I am so incredibly grateful for.”

The September 17 anniversary open house is free and open to the public. Minnesota Hospice also offers many free resources for families and healthcare professionals including education classes, health care directive workshops, and grief support groups.
