MiCode Offers Free Lifetime Medical QR Codes to Dementia Support Groups

Following AXA Startup Angel recognition and its Jersey project, MiCode offers local dementia services up to 50 codes each, with free lifetime subscriptions.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, September 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Local organisations supporting people living with dementia are being invited to receive up to 50 free MiCodes each, all with free lifetime subscriptions, following MiCode’s national recognition in the AXA Startup Angel Competition 2026.

The offer builds on MiCode’s work with Dementia Jersey and will help local charities, dementia cafés, carers’ groups and community support services make important medical information and emergency contacts more accessible when someone needs help.

Each participating service can receive up to 50 MiCodes to distribute free to people in its local community. Every donated MiCode includes a lifetime subscription, with no ongoing subscription fees.

MiCode is a QR code designed to store and manage your medical information and emergency contacts. If someone becomes confused, is taken ill or cannot explain their needs, another person can scan their MiCode with a smartphone to access the information they have chosen to share.

There is no app to download. MiCode can be carried on wallet cards, keyrings, tags and stickers. Information can include medical conditions, allergies, medication, emergency contacts and instructions that may help someone provide appropriate support. Details can be updated whenever circumstances change.

MiCode was named a judge-selected runner-up in the national AXA Startup Angel Competition 2026, run in partnership with The Standard. The competition attracted hundreds of entries, with 15 businesses shortlisted and six ultimately receiving awards.

The recognition is an important milestone for MiCode: it places the business among a small group recognised through a national competition backed by AXA and a major UK news publisher. The Standard valued each runner-up’s media and mentoring package at more than £18,000, including a dedicated business profile in print and online. This support gives MiCode a valuable platform to reach more families, carers and community organisations.

In Jersey, Dementia Jersey has made MiCodes available with free lifetime subscriptions. ITV News reported in June 2026 that 500 codes were available through the initiative, highlighting the reassurance they could offer families.
